Since 01/07/2025 Vietnam has 34 provinces instead of 63, the district tier has been abolished, and 10,052 communes have been reorganised into 3,321 units. So a former address does not merely get renamed — it loses a level. This looks the change up in both directions: from a former address to the unit that now covers it, or from a new unit back to the communes it was assembled from. The whole dataset ships with the page, no API is called, and every result carries the source's own wording so you can check it yourself. Where the data cannot pin a mapping down, the tool says so rather than inventing a plausible-looking address.
Basis & method
- Resolution 202/2025/QH15 — provincial reorganisation: 63 down to 34 (28 provinces and 6 centrally-governed cities), with 11 left unchanged.
- Resolutions of the National Assembly Standing Committee of 16/06/2025 — commune-level reorganisation province by province, effective 01/07/2025, at which point the district tier ceased to exist.
- The old ↔ new mapping is taken from the Ministry of Home Affairs' reorganisation map and cross-checked against the official unit lists from before and after 01/07/2025. Every source is recorded in the dataset with its URL and SHA-256 checksum.
- Current coverage: 9,770 of 10,052 former communes (97.2%) carry a verified mapping. The rest are references the source text either leaves ambiguous or spells differently from the official list — those are shown verbatim and reported as undetermined, never guessed.
